Goodbye Em.
Last week my good friend and old roommate, Emily, left Provo, for good. Her husband will be starting Dental School in Oregon, and so off to Portland they go. I'm excited for them and their new adventure, but of course, it is sad to see yet another friend move away.
The Birthday Girl!
We had such a fun day for Brooklyn's birthday. I know that she won't remember it, but I couldn't help but throw her some kind of little party. So, we had a birthday BBQ! We had just a few friends and neighbors over and grilled up some hamburgers, and of course we had some cake!
Brian insisted on making Brooklyn's birthday cake. I found some really cool cake decorating pens at Walmart. They are literally like pens but to write on food with! Awsome!! I forgot to take a picture of the cake before I cut it, but it looked great!
Eatin the cake.
Wow, look at all those crumbs!
Video of Brooklyn eating her Birthday Cake. Hilarious, though probably not in the way you're expecting!
Sick
So two weeks before Brooklyn's birthday, she got sick... very sick. That Saturday she started throwing up. She held nothing down all day. Sunday she continued throwing up. By Sunday afternoon we were begining to get worried because she seemed to be getting worse instead of better. We took her to the doctors where they did a few little tests and decided that we needed to take her straight to the hospital so that she could get an IV because she was just too dehydrated already. So, to the hospital we went. It was so sad to see her hooked up to an IV. I feel like babies that little shouldn't be allowed to get sick, it's just not right. We were in the hospital over night and all day Monday. She kept a little bit of food down on Monday and didn't throw up at all, so they let us take her home Monday night. However, Tuesday morning she woke up just the same as she did Saturday, throwing up. We tried our best that day to give her small amounts of pedialyte and other clear liquids, we REALLY didn't want to have to go to the hospital again. But when she was still throwing up on Wednesday, we took her back to the doctor. Over the next few days we had blood work done 3 more times, took her to the doctors 3 more times and Brooklyn was literally living off of pedialyte, and nothing else. It was so so sad. She had absolutely no energy all week long. I literally just held her in my arms for a week straight. Poor little thing. But finally, by Saturday she seemed to have finally fought off the bug. She still wouldn't eat much yet, but she was getting better, and by Monday she was basically back to her normal self. It was a LONG week, but we are just grateful that nothing serious came of it and that our little girl is now healthy and happy. I know these pictures are kinda sad, and the video is really sad, but they are also kinda cute in a way. Notice in the video how she has a little baby sized hospital gown on. As I said, sad, but kinda cute.
These two pictures are just of her lounging around while sick.

Easter
We spent Easter up at Kimber and Matt's house along with some of the rest of Brian's family. It was so much fun. We had a great dinner, and Brooklyn actually somewhat enjoyed getting Easter Eggs. Here are two pictures of her and her Easter basket, and then a few cute videos of the day. One video is of her opening her Easter package that my mom sent, I thought my mom may enjoy watching her grandaughter openning the package.
St. Patrick's Day
I know, St. Patrick's Day was a long time ago, but I had to post about this dinner that I made haha. So, I thought it would be fun to make a special St. Patrick's Day dinner. Basically, I just made beef stroganoff and added green food coloring to it. The taste was actually fine, but the color was so disgusting that neither Brian nor I could eat much of it. We ended up with lots of leftovers in the fridge that stayed there for weeks, untouched. Until finally we threw it way. haha. Maybe next year I will just make something that is already naturally green!
happy birthday to brooklyn! that is so sad that she got so sick! it sounds like we were in the hospital at the same time.:( i'm glad she's fine now, though!
